  1. Foam split failure.
  2. Tyvek split failure.
  3. All samples reinforced with 2 mil polyester film as test values exceeded foam strength.
  4. Samples bonded at 20 degrees F, left at 20F for 15 min then tested at room temp.
  5. Samples were taken down.   Had not failed and showing little or no movement.

Weatherability

4’x8’ test panel with window was assembled 15 Jan 2009 at ambient temperature of 25 degrees F.  AFT was used for window flashing and Tyvek splicing.   Panel has since been exposed to Wisconsin winter environment.  No failures have been observed on either flashing or splices.   Panel will continued to be exposed until failures are observed.

Permeability

Permeability is based on foam material “only” without adhesive.  Testing with adhesive would reduce water vapor and absorption considerably when adhesive is present.

Approved applications

Approved bond to:

  • Tyvek
  • PVC
  • Vinyl (window)

Surface Preparation and Installation

All surfaces must be dry, smooth and free of dust, dirt and debris.  Any loose debris must be cleaned off before application.  Rolls can be stored for 12 months in a dry place. It is recommended that the siding be installed within 90 days of applying Arrowhead Flashing Tape.

Traditional Application

Cut pieces to desired length.  Remove release liner, position and smooth into place from one end to the other eliminating as many air pockets or bubbles as possible.  Apply based on local code and or standard building practices.  Overlaps should be a minimum of 2”.

Inner Frame Application w/ ”V” System

Place diecut “V” part onto each corner of the frame face.  Extend into the frame opening by a minimum of ½” and roll over edge into frame.  Starting on the side of the frame ½ way up.  Using a 9” roll remove liner and start applying the tape following the complete inside of the frame leaving the extended material overlapping the front of the frame.  Overlap the starting point by 2” and cut.  Push down excess material making a seal over the exterior and over the “V” diecut.
